Mike James, Trustee

Mike James, a lifelong resident of Simi Valley, California, is a dedicated community leader with a passion for public education and civic engagement. A graduate of Simi Valley Schools and the parent of children in the District, he has a deep personal and professional commitment to fostering student success and enhancing the local school system.

Mike served on the Simi Valley Education Foundation Board since 2011, including three terms as President. In his tenure, he has worked directly with schools to provide grants, scholarships and resources that benefit students and teachers alike. His extensive background in non-profit leadership and governance spans more than 15 years, emphasizing sound fiscal management and collaborative problem-solving. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development with a concentration on Working with Adults from Pacific Oaks College.

In addition to his education advocacy, Mike is an experienced business leader, managing a global Aerospace Technical Communications and R&D Marketing team in Simi Valley. He leverages these skills to support innovative programs and initiatives in local schools.

Mike’s vision for our students focuses on safety, arts integration and strategic planning for future learners. He is committed to creating diverse educational opportunities through collaborative partnerships between schools, businesses, and community organizations to strengthen Simi Valley’s public schools for generations to come.
