California Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
California Education Code Section 60800 requires each local educational agency (LEA) in California to administer a physical fitness test every year to all students in grades five, seven, and nine. The State Board of Education designated the FITNESSGRAM as the required Physical Fitness Test (PFT) for California public schools. The primary goal of the FITNESSGRAM is to assist students in establishing lifelong habits of regular physical activity.
FITNESSGRAM
The FITNESSGRAM tests six main fitness areas that represent three broad components of fitness: (1) Aerobic Capacity, (2) Body Composition, and (3) Muscle Strength, Endurance, and Flexibility. This third component is further divided into four areas: Abdominal Strength and Endurance; Trunk Extensor Strength and Flexibility; Upper Body Strength and Endurance; and Flexibility.
This brochure (Spanish Brochure) provides parents and guardians with information about aerobic capacity. Information about the other fitness areas is available in the brochure entitled “Parent and Guardian Guide to the Physical Fitness Test and the FITNESSGRAM.”
English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC)
The ELPAC is the test that is used to measure how well students in kindergarten through twelfth grade understand English when it is not their primary language. The ELPAC is taking the place of the California English Language Development Test (CELDT). Information from the ELPAC helps your child’s teacher provide support in the right areas.

La Prueba de Suficiencia en el Idioma Inglés de California o ELPAC por sus siglas en inglés, es una prueba usada para medir que tan bien entienden inglés los alumnos de kindergarten al doceavo grado, cuando no es su idioma natal. La ELPAC está reemplazando la Prueba de California de Desarrollo del Idioma Inglés (CELDT por sus siglas en inglés). La información de la ELPAC ayuda a los maestros de sus hijos a proporcionar apoyo en las áreas que se necesita.

CALIFORNIA ASSESSMENTS
California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)
The CAASPP System is intended to provide parents and students more accurate and actionable information about what students are learning. Because the Smarter Balanced Assessments, which are administered as part of the CAASPP System, are computer adaptive, these Assessments will also provide better information about the needs and successes of individual students. The CAASPP System includes the following required assessments and additional resources:
- Smarter Balanced Assessments: The Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments, Interim Assessments, and Digital Library are all part of the CAASPP System.
- Summative Assessments-Smarter Balanced: is given in grades three through eight and 11. Summative Assessments are comprehensive, end-of-year assessments for English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics that are aligned with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) that measures progress toward college and career readiness.
- California Science Tests (CAST): is administered to students enrolled in grades five, eight, and students in grade twelve who did not take the CAST previously. This assessment is aligned with the California Next Generation Science Standards.
- California Alternate Assessments (CAAs): for English/Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics are given in grades three through eight and grade 11. The CAA for science is given to students enrolled in grades five, eight and 11, and students in grade 12 who did not take the CAA Science previously. Only eligible students may participate in the administration of the CAAs.

Practice and Training Tests
This link accesses both the Practice and Training Tests portal. The Practice Tests provide students with grade-specific testing experiences that are similar in structure and format to the Summative Assessments. The Training Tests provide students with the opportunity to quickly become familiar with the software and interface features. The Training Tests are organized by grade-bands (e.g., 3–5).

Multiplication Table (1–9)
This resource is a single digit (1–9) multiplication table that is a non-embedded accommodation for grade 4 mathematics items and above. This is to be used only for students with a documented and persistent calculation disability (i.e., dyscalculia). It can be printed for students requiring this accommodation.

Provides keyboard commands students can use to navigate between test elements, features, and tools.
