SUN Bucks (Summer EBT)

Sun Bucks Logo

What is SUN Bucks?

SUN Bucks Summer EBT program helps families with school-age children who may experience summer food insecurity buy groceries during the summer months when kids might not have access to school meals. If your household income is less than 185% of the Federal level, your children may be eligible to receive $40 per child per month ($120 total) for June, July and August. The Summer EBT cards are issued through the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) and the program is run in partnership with the California Department of Education (CDE.) Parents may use the funds to purchase food during the summer anywhere EBT cards are accepted.

How Can We Apply?

For most eligible families in our community, SUN Bucks will be automatically sent in the summer through participation in other state assistance programs such as CALWorks, CALFresh or through National School Lunch Program application for the 25-26 school year. If you are unsure if your household is pre-qualified, please call 805-306-4500 ext. 4702 to inquire.

For students who attend one of our Community Eligible Provision (CEP) sites:

Apollo High School
Arroyo Elementary
Berylwood Elementary
Justin Early Learners
Park View Elementary
Santa Susana Elementary

if your household DID NOT receive a letter stating your student was Directly Certified for the 2025-2026 NSLP program, a SUN Bucks Universal Benefits Application (UBA) may be completed to qualify. A PDF is available in both English: SUN Bucks UBA Eng. and in Spanish: SUN Bucks UBA Esp.  Paper UBAs will also be available at the above CEP sites throughout the school year and can be returned to your student's office or submitted to the SVUSD Child Nutrition Office for processing.

More information on the SUN Bucks program is available on the SUN Bucks page on the CDSS website or you are always welcome to call SVUSD Child Nutrition with questions. We will happily help you find the information you need or answer any questions you may have at 805-306-4500 ext. 4702.
