Home Hospital Instruction
Home Hospital Instruction
Assistance may be provided for students who are experiencing health problems that interfere with their school attendance. Home hospital Instruction is a temporary solution intended to help a student address his/her medical needs while maintaining his/her course of study while s/he cannot physically attend a school campus. Home hospital Instruction requires a doctor's order. Contact your school nurse for more information.
After recommendation and approval by the Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services, a student may receive in-home teaching for a maximum of five hours per week. This option is recommended only when specific SVUSD criteria are met and requires parental involvement to meet the educational requirements. The student will receive credit for work completed during this time; however, if the student is unable to actively work with the home teacher, the option will be re-examined and another educational avenue may be selected.
Home Hospital Instruction for Students with Disabilities
Home hospital instruction for students with disabilities is similar to home hospital instruction for other students but may include services for students to work toward their IEP goals. Home hospital instruction for students with disabilities must be recommended by the IEP or 504 Team based on a student's needs. Contact your student’s special education or 504 case manager for more information about Home Hospital Teaching and whether or not your child qualifies..
