How Do Program Specialists Help Students?
Our amazing team of Program Specialists are a wonderful resource, in addition to your school site principal or case manager. Specifically, our Program Specialists:
- Direct services for students including the identification, diagnosis, follow-up and referral of students with problems related to attendance, mental health or learning disabilities.
- Coordinate Special Education student placements and services.
- Collaborate with staff regarding the Response to Instruction and Intervention (RtI2) process.
- Provide or recommend appropriate services for groups of exceptional students and their parents.
- Recommend placement of individual students with special needs.
- Develop special programs and curriculum for Special Day class and RSP students.
- Provide special consultation and case conferences with student services personnel.
- Assist in implementing California and Federal regulations and developing special education programs.
- Develop, provide and determine needs for professional development activities in Special Education and Response to Instruction and Intervention.

Ventura County SELPA
The Ventura County SELPA office is responsible for the implementation of the Ventura County Special Education Local Plan, and for ensuring a free appropriate public education to all students with identified disabilities according to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
California Department of Education (CDE)
(CDE) This component of the CDE provides support for program specialists and school psychologists in serving our special populations.
TRI-COUNTIES REGIONAL CENTERTCRC provides person and family centered supports for individuals with developmental disabilities to maximize opportunities and choices for living, working, learning, and recreating in the community.
